Job Overview
As a Programming & Scheduling Director, you will play a critical role in shaping the content strategy and overall programming lineup to attract and retain subscribers. You are responsible to curate compelling content experiences that resonate with our target audiences and oversee the scheduling of content on our streaming service, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams on a strategic level to optimize content performance and drive engagement metrics.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Lead the development and implementation of the overall programming for Max in Australia & New Zealand region (across all pillars – Entertainment, Kids, Factual and Lifestyle):
• Curate and organize the programming lineup to optimize viewer engagement and satisfaction. Utilize data analytics and audience insights to make informed decisions about programming and scheduling, ensuring a steady flow of fresh and relevant programming while maximizing viewer retention and acquisition opportunities.
• Work closely with content acquisition team on selection of programming for studio output deals, third-party acquisition selections and additional programming.
• Manage programme inventory in collaboration with Networks linear channels and ensure windowing strategy is in place.
• Liaise with Standards & Practices team to fulfil local compliance requirements for streaming service.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (including Creative services, Communications, Marketing, Partner Marketing, Research) to align on program priorities via content medaling framework.
• Work closely with internal teams including content development, marketing, analytics, and product development to align programming efforts with broader business objectives. Collaborate on promotional campaigns, audience targeting strategies, and product enhancements to drive subscriber growth and engagement.
• Lead and supervise team of content schedulers to ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly. Communicate and liaise with internal teams around content release schedules, and schedule updates and changes.
• Competitive monitoring/analysis on a monthly basis to enable Programming team to stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitors' programming offerings as well as make well-informed decisions on content and release strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education: At least Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in the media or a related field
• Prior Experience / Industry: At least 8 years of experience in media, TV networks or streaming business.
• Must possess knowledge and experience in using programming or promo scheduling system.
• Language: Excellent in English communication (verbal & written)
• Passion for entertainment content and a deep appreciation for the diverse tastes and preferences of regional audiences.
• Demonstrates strong management capabilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results under pressure.
• High level organizational skills, ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong proficiency in data analysis and experience leveraging analytics tools to inform programming decisions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
