The Simon & Schuster Design and Digital Content Development team is hiring a desktop publishing assistant to help us make great books.
The assistant will primarily work on conversions and backlist reprints. Responsibilities would include:
• Making corrections to existing files
• Converting files into new trim sizes
• Flowing books in InDesign
• Reviewing files for design consistency, page makeup, and compliance with in-house standards and preflight requirements
• Sending final files to print vendors
• Reviewing final proofs for compliance with provided production specs and industry-standard print guidelines
• Archiving final interior title assets
The assistant should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and extremely organized. Because the job is deadline-sensitive, this person must be able to manage their time well.
Required Skills
- Expert in Adobe InDesign
- Experienced with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Knows proofreader's marks
- Familiar with book composition standards
