PMC: Project Manager

The technology team at Penske Media Corporation (PMC) is hiring a Project Manager to help operationally run PMC's livestream product for key events, as well as assist on other digital projects as needed. The Project Manager will be expected to coordinate across many teams internally and externally in the run up to major events, ensuring that the video livestream across multiple digital properties goes off without a hitch. These are live, high-profile media events (including the Golden Globes and American Music Awards) so the execution must be excellent. You're a highly motivated self-starter who is organized, passionate about digital products and have a proven track record in delivering to strict deadlines under high pressure. In addition you have experience working with video products and livestreaming.

We deliver using a combination of Agile (Scrum, Kanban) as well as more traditional project management methodologies. This role is located in our new, state of the art West Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities
• Coordination between Dick Clark Productions and Livestreaming Operations team in the 4-6 weeks ahead of each event, confirming and delivering key information such as date & time of event, VOD requirements and any other unique requirements for the event.
• Overseeing general pre-event testing, bug fixing and other key milestones as needed.
• Coordination between 3rd party broadcasters & PMC engineering team to ensure integration development and testing is complete if a 3rd party video player is being used for the event. This consists of:
• Confirming and communicating player implementation requirements with various tech teams, both internal to PMC and external partners.
• Scheduling testing plans and ensuring all tests are completed.
• Communicating QA links & collaborating on feedback.
• Unblocking teams in a timely manner.
• Communicating risks to senior executives as appropriate.
• Playing traffic cop during each live event, which will take place on an evening or weekend:
• Hosting centralized Zoom & Slack channels to coordinate the various go-live actions.
• Ensuring all configurations are enabled at precise times.
• Coordination and communication with any relevant 3rd parties.
• Communicating emergencies to relevant on-call teams (internally and externally) as necessary.
• Logging non-critical bugs for post-event fixes.
• Additionally, between key livestream events, continue to evaluate our livestreaming products and suggest user experience improvements or other ways to increase engagement. Stay abreast of best in class live stream features in the market place.
• Work on other digital projects between livestream events, acting as a joint product-project role, facilitating successful delivery of small to medium projects across websites, apps, WordPress and more.
• Please note that you will be required to work out of business hours ~6 events a year on evenings and weekends.

Skills

• Minimum 3 years' experience working with development projects / teams in the media, entertainment, or publishing industries.
• Live streaming / digital video expertise.
• Experience acting in a project manager role, delivering projects with hard deadlines.
• Excellent understanding of User Experience best practices across digital products, particularly video products.
• The highest level of attention to detail.
• Experience of working with technical teams and translating 'tech speak' to non-technical parties.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams / stakeholders in multiple locations across multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to deliver nuanced communication to potentially difficult or frustrated stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree preferably in a science or technical subject.
• Preferred: Experience working with livestreaming products and experiences.
• Preferred: Knowledge of content management and publishing systems including WordPress.
• Preferred: Experience with project management systems and software including; planning software such as JIRA / MS Project / Smartsheet; and diagramming and presentation software such as Visio / PowerPoint / Photoshop / Balsamiq.

The Hiring Process

Typical wage range: $90k - $100k + annual discretionary bonus. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
