Publicity Assistant - Christian Books, WaterBrook & Multnomah (Open to Remote)

WaterBrook and Multnomah, imprints of the Random House Publishing Group, are seeking a Publicity Assistant to join our publishing program focused on books for the Christian market, including nonfiction, Bible studies, fiction, children's, and creative gift product. This role will report to the VP, Publicity Director.

WaterBrook and Multnomah works with a deep list of bestselling and award-winning authors such Tim Tebow, Jennie Allen, Michael Todd, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, John Mark Comer, Latasha Morrison, Jordan Lee Dooley, Mark Batterson, Lisa Tawn Bergren, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and many more. In addition, WaterBrook publishes Ink & Willow, a line of creative product.

This role provides an intensive education in Christian book publishing in a fast-paced, fun, collaborative, and supportive environment with a team of dedicated publishing professionals. The assistant will have the opportunity to work with a variety of authors and contribute to publicity campaigns.

In this role you will:
• Strategize with internal teams and help execute campaigns in a variety of genres
• Provide general administrative support, including mailings, reports, press materials, processing invoices, billings, information tracking, and data entry
• Communicate between the Editorial, Marketing, Sales, and Production departments

Publicity Responsibilities:
• Assisting publicity team members with campaigns, including developing strategy, pitches, and executing press outreach
• Creating detailed interview itineraries/tour schedules for publicity campaigns and coordinating travel and other arrangements for major author tours
• Drafting and copyediting press materials, including press releases, pitch and galley letters, author bios, Q&As, social media posts, excerpts, etc.
• Developing media lists
• Coordinating media mailings and fulfilling review copy requests
• Sending galleys to trade outlets for review
• Tracking, reporting, and archiving media hits
• Scheduling interviews for assigned authors
• Arranging book signings at bookstores and events
• Responding to e-mails and calls from media, authors, and booksellers
• Performing online research to acquire publicity contacts and updating media lists
• Participating in and contributing to meetings with authors, agents, and team members

With this in mind, to be successful in this role we feel that you'll need to have:
• Genuine interest in publicity, especially for Christian and faith-based books
• Voracious consumer of media in all forms including podcasts, television, and news
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate well, both written and orally
• Strong organizational skills, time management skills, initiative, and creativity
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Adept at learning new computer-based programs and social media platforms
• Keen attention to detail
• Experience with Canva a plus
*The WaterBrook and Multnomah office is in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is open to remote candidates with a slight preference for candidates within commutable distance to come in periodically to assist with book mailings, meetings, and author visits.
