Job Title: Urban Youth Academy – Front Desk Assistant

Job Summary: The Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission to empower Kansas's City's youth through baseball, softball, academic and social opportunities to be the leaders of tomorrow.

This position will be housed at the Urban Youth Academy. The incumbent will play a key role in fostering a welcoming and professional atmosphere for the organization. As the first and last point of contact for UYA guests, this role is crucial in ensuring a positive guest experience. Responsibilities include greeting guests, providing information, and addressing concerns to maintain a high standard of guest satisfaction and a friendly environment.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Welcome visitors to the UYA during operating hours, clearly communicating the schedule of activities and answering questions about where different activities are being held.
• Serve as a skilled and effective communicator to minimize confusion and direct guests efficiently, given the multiple activities happening throughout the day.
• Answer phone calls, take messages, and distribute them to the appropriate employees
• Monitor security cameras and maintain awareness of who is entering or in the immediate vicinity of the Academy.
• Receive and distribute packages and mail delivered to the Academy.
• Use the lobby TV and TripleSeat scheduling software to reference the day's events.
• Ensure the correct team or party is on the field they have been assigned
• Be knowledgeable about UYA programming to adequately answer parents' questions (e.g., sports offered, age groups eligible, session schedules).
• Ensure all guests, whether open gym participants, contractors, or programming parents, correctly log in via the iPad at the front desk or by the QR code posted throughout the Academy.
• Help resolve any conflicts that may arise or refer to a full-time employee on site.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk, lobby area and concessions stand.
• Represent the Royals Organization in a professional manner.

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Clear and effective communicator
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Strong organization skills
• Demonstrated experience taking instruction and performing duties as assigned.
• Dependable and trustworthy

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds
• Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
• Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
• Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
• Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a Part-Time, Non-Exempt opportunity that is not eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. The schedule for this position is dependent on our team schedule and is subject to change.
