Folkalist Records–a record label focusing on music from the Global South made by female singers, songwriters, and storytellers–is looking for a Social Media and Operations Manager. This role is key to promoting our groundbreaking artists, overseeing our digital presence, driving communication to a global audience, and maintaining our operational efficiency. Commitment: 10-15 hours per week(flexible schedule)
Key Responsibilities:
Social Media and Content Management
Develop engaging social media content (graphics and videos), organize a calendar of assets, and ensure alignment with the label's branding.
Work with artists, venues, and external collaborators to gather materials for releases and social media campaigns.
Stay on top of trends in the music industry (especially global music) and social media to produce timely, relevant content.
Monitor campaign performance, analyze metrics, and adjust strategies for optimal reach and engagement.
Communication and Public Relations
Create newsletters and press releases to announce signings, releases, and updates to fans, media, and tastemakers.
Maintain and update a database of press and media contacts.
Regularly update the label’s website with news, artist profiles, and upcoming events.
Manage email communications with venues, vendors, and partners to ensure smooth operations.
Operational Support
Liaise with digital and physical distributors.
Liaise with artists and aid in the coordination of new album releases, events, and promotional activities.
Maintain efficiency with tools like Google Drive, Dropbox, and productivity apps like Notion.
Manage invoices, organize digital files, and track essential deadlines for various projects.
Support logistics for showcases, tours, and promotional events, including scheduling, travel, and on-site assistance.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Experience managing social media platforms like Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
Proficiency with content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing software to create and schedule video and graphic assets for social media.
Proficiency in using social media scheduling platforms like Later.
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of professional experience working in the Arts.
Preferred:
Fluency in a second language (written and spoken).
Experience working across multiple cultures and countries.
Familiarity with running ads on social platforms and understanding audience segmentation.
Experience with email merge tools.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Arts Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; experience in music, entertainment, or social media management is a plus.
