The Role
The primary responsibility of the Accounting Associate – Motion Pictures is to maintain accurate and timely records of all client participation reporting and associated payments. Responsibilities will include analyzing both contracts and profit participation statements, basic accounts receivable/account payable duties, follow-up on client monies/outstanding invoices, data entry, billing. The Accounting Associate – Motion Pictures will also create and manage spreadsheets in Excel format that are customized to business needs and client requests.
Responsibilities
• Review contracts / participation reporting to ensure accurate information is inputted into the department's accounting system
• Identify gaps and variances in participation reporting, including highlighting opportunities for studio audits
• Maintain regular and mutually beneficial connections with studio participation departments
• Prepare weekly reports of contractual obligations for new motion picture releases and distribute to relevant parties
• Research unresolved client transactions and ensure correct allocation
• Work closely with agents and assistants to ensure client satisfaction
• Know when to escalate collection issues, and perform general accounting tasks as requested by Supervisors and management
• Maintain communication with agents, assistants, managers, attorneys and the trust department
• Perform month end close tasks for A/R – book revenue according to the revenue recognition policies and determine if schedules should be closed
• Maintain the monthly analysis of all general ledger accounts relating to commissions and Accounts Receivable
• Assist CAA Business Affairs w/ ad hoc projects and requests
• Support the accounts receivable budget process by providing information and identifying variances; implement corrective actions
• Conduct monthly training for new agent assistants, including familiarizing them with trust accounting functions, as well as how to submit bookings
• Responsible for identifying and collecting on past due balances while maintaining positive relationships with our customers/clients
• Support with special projects, company initiatives and/or process improvements initiatives
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 3 or more years Accounting experience
• Entertainment experience is preferred / interest in motion picture a major plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work well with a team and represent the culture of the company
• Team player with a high level of energy, enthusiasm
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
• Ability to succeed in a fast paced, highly demanding, high volume, dynamic, corporate environment
• Professional integrity and can be trusted to maintain confidential information
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• 10-key by touch preferred
• Typing – 45 wpm preferred
• Take the initiative to help other team members if needed
Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our Los Angeles office.
Compensation: The base hourly rate for this position is in the range of $25.00 - $29.00. Ultimately, wages may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria. Please talk with a CAA Recruiter to learn more.
