Born from a joint venture between leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and global venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Connect Ventures is a next-generation investment partnership. Founder-driven and consumer-focused, Connect Ventures invests in next wave entrepreneurs while fostering connectivity among the companies in its carefully curated portfolio. The firm focuses on pre-seed to Series A investments across Media & Entertainment, Sports, Gaming, Health & Wellness, and CPG.
The Role
CAA is seeking a Los Angeles-based Executive for a unique and highly visible role within the company. The Executive will play a critical role in evaluating potential investment opportunities and conducting market diligence across the consumer, media, and entertainment landscape. This position reports to CAA's Head of Connect Ventures and works closely with CAA's Head of M&A, Head of Strategic Development, and President. We are looking for an Executive who stays ahead of emerging technology and consumer trends and can assist in developing business plans and financial models for new startups.
Responsibilities
• Identify growth opportunities that support CAA's strategic priorities, through interaction with senior business leaders, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, market leaders, and organic ideation
• Manage a series of corporate priorities for the improvement and enhancement of the enterprise
• Conduct sector analyses, including market sizing, competitive landscaping, and trend analysis
• Advise on targets and strategies in association with existing investments
• Researching, sourcing and diligencing new investment opportunities
• Crafting decks and presentations for investors, executive talent and Connect team
• Constructing financial models to support new business presentations
• Creating and presenting investment, strategy and diligence materials
• Assisting portfolio companies with operations and other critical tasks
• Fostering and maintaining strong network within the venture community
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration
• MBA/MS preferred
• 5-10+ years of work experience in management consulting, venture investing or investment banking
• Interest in the media, entertainment and technology space and a passion to learn
• Independent thinker with a point of view on the risks and rewards of new investment opportunities and strategic initiatives
• Innate problem solver and can troubleshoot independently
• Polished oral and written communication skills
• Professional with clients and prospective business partners
• Collaborative and can cross-pollinate in a corporate environment
• Attention to detail in all deliverables
• Strong work ethic with a high level of responsiveness
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools with a strong emphasis on Excel
• Ability to manage deadlines with a high level of responsibility and autonomy
Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our Los Angeles, CA, office.
Compensation The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $165,000 - $218,000. This position is also eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus. Ultimately, the salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, business sector, and geographic location, among other criteria.
