Your Role Accountabilities…
• Oversee the accounting for EMEA content assets, include licenses programming, locally originally produced programing and HBO and D+ licensed original programming.
• Oversight responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Ensure proper accruals for participation, residuals and other expenses.
• Work closely with Discovery, HBO and HBO Max global teams to account for content licensing of library and new titles.
• Oversee accounting for local content productions through development and production lifecycle, including capitalization of development costs, accounting for final production costs, release & amortization of title.
• Conduct quarterly review of title activity and viewership to evaluate quantitatively and qualitatively the content library for potentially impaired titles or accelerated lives
• Responsibility over content group with oversight of programming additions, application of appropriate amortization lives and curves to each title, review for title impairments, and accounting for changes in lives.
• Ownership of content amortization accounting, ensuring content amortization methods are consistent with WBD accounting policy US GAAP and IFRS.
• Oversee intercompany reconciliations for DTC entities, ensure differences are reported and cleared. Work with other members of the Controllership team to review, and resolve any intercompany discrepancies within the group
• Managing monthly accounting close process. Critical to this is the accuracy of by-title accounting for amortization, and proper reporting of by title activity.
• Responsible for ensuring timely completion and accuracy of account reconciliations to ensure balance sheet accuracy
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal control environment
• Point of contact for internal and external auditors.
• Work closely with financial accounting teams on the DTC EMEA monthly close reporting and local statutory filing process
• Act as subject matter expert on content activity within statutory financial statements, providing detailed schedules and audit request support by country
• Engage with key EMEA controllership stakeholders, including FP&A, GBS, Tax, and country specific business unit teams. Ensure a robust understanding of the streaming business in core operating sectors and provide responsive consultation and information as required in key business decisions.
• Develop staff into mature financial advisors who are viewed as trusted business advisors to the various Corporate, Business Unit and global teams with whom there is regular interaction. Provide career and professional development/coaching/training to staff. Periodically evaluate personnel workload requirements within the team and recommend changes, process improvements as require. Lead team with emphasis on continuous improvement in accuracy and efficiency
• Participate and provide input to key system and process integrations in the EMEA controllership area over the next two to three years, especially as it relates to the recent merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia and ERP upgrade initiatives. Frequently assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing approved new processes.

Qualifications & Experience…
• At least 10 years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX requirements, and relevant local GAAP as required
• 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role in accounting/finance
• Prior work experience supervising Accounting Team of a large Company preferred

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
• Master's degree in Accounting or MBA a plus
• CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred

Knowledge/Skills
• Strong technical accounting experience and financial accounting skills
• Experience with US GAAP and application of accounting standards
• Ability to understand and apply complex accounting standards to a business process with focus on accounting for entertainment film and broadcasters (FASB ASC 920 and 926)
• Strong understanding of financial systems with ability to learn and master new system tools
• Knowledgeable in the accounting for foreign currency matters, foreign exchange and other complex topics
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
• Ability to anticipate resource requirements and to make adjustments based on emerging issues and priorities
• Willing and able to travel internationally for occasional business trips
