Job Description

KULX Telemundo Utah, has an opportunity for a full-time News Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Newsgathering, production, news programming and presentation.
• Ensure newscasts are well conceived and provide high quality coverage, accuracy, integrity, and result in an improved competitive position in the market.
• Implement strategic mission and tactical operation of newsroom while ensuring the highest levels of journalistic, ethical, TV production and promotion standards are maintained.
• Oversee day-to-day coverage, big story, breaking news and sweeps planning with consideration of payroll, staffing, field, and news operations to meet established goals and objectives.
• Negotiate and manage some on-air and producer contracts.
• Achieve highest standard of integrity in news operations.
• Manage and lead team of News professionals and maintain positive newsroom environment.
• Provide feedback and coaching to staff & conduct yearly reviews.
• Manage and develop content for streaming platforms.
• Develop and implement strategy for social media and digital platforms.
• Work in partnership with KULX news teams as part of the duopoly.
• Collaborate with VP of News and KULX news management on big story and day to day planning and execution.
• Develop and maintain relationships with departments outside of news like Sales, Brand Marketing and Research.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience.
• Three to five years Broadcast experience in a major market, as well as previous management experience leading a news department.
• Understanding of Spanish Language television.
