Location: Santo Domingo / San Antonio de Guerra, Dominican Republic

If these questions intrigue you, we have a role for you to consider. The Rays are hiring for a Baseball Performance Science Assistant. This position will assist the Baseball Performance Science (BBPS), Latin American Academy, Player Development, and entire Baseball Operations staff in coordinating the Latin American Academy BBPS technology, administering BBPS testing sessions, collecting, maintaining, interpreting, and disseminating data, and generating new initiatives for the department. This person will also be responsible for ensuring that the flow of information in and out of the department is timely, comprehensive, and accurate. All of these efforts in support of our goal to understand and improve performance while keeping the athletes safe and healthy.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate usage of available health, wellness, and performance-based technological resources for player development and clinical staff.
• Coordinate workload monitoring initiatives, disseminating the data to the various stakeholders daily.
• Operate existing and investigate new technological resources including, but not limited to, motion capture systems, force platforms, load cells, and wearable sensors.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary group to perform athlete assessments and provide feedback obtained from performance science resources to aid in a 360-degree player care and performance improvement plans.
• Leverage existing data from baseball technology to research and recommend improvements or interventions for player health, wellness, evaluation, and development.
• Maintain and organize various forms of performance science data (roster updates, health, wellness, practice setting metrics, and workload monitoring, etc.).
• Strengthen daily lines of communication and build trust between Baseball Performance Science, Medical, Strength & Conditioning, and Player Development staff in our Latin American Academy.
• Assist in the streamlining efforts of testing, protocols, and initiatives between the US-based affiliates and the Latin American complex.
• Contribute to all BBPS initiatives, data exploration, and hypothesis-driven analyses.
Qualifications:
• A bachelor's level degree in a performance science-related field including, biomechanics, sports medicine, exercise physiology, athletic training, and/or neuromuscular control. Graduate-level education in these areas is highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience in various software platforms including SQL, Office Suite, and Athlete Management Systems.
• Clinical experience (and accompanying certifications) in the areas of athletic training, physical therapy, strength and conditioning, and/or nutrition are highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience and coursework in statistics, computer science, and/or engineering is beneficial.
• Proven background in conducting baseball performance science-related research.
• Capacity to communicate complex and technical information to a varied audience.
• Ability to clearly communicate in Spanish is required.
