PA & Development Coordinator - 12 month FTC

Please note that this role is based in the United Kingdom. In order to enable us to meet statutory and regulatory obligations of the United Kingdom immigration system you must have the appropriate immigration permission needed to work and reside in the United Kingdom for the duration of the employment.

This is a fixed term position, lasting 12 months.

We are looking for a confident, diligent person with brilliant organisation skills and a passion for TV to join the development department of Sony Pictures Television International Studios UK (SPTIS). This role would ideally suit someone who has prior experience as a PA and/or held an administrative or secretarial position within the TV industry, who is keen to step into a career in TV script development.

The priority of the role is to ensure the smooth running of the development department of SPTIS through PA and admin duties. We are a lean team with a busy slate, placed within a large international company, so a willingness and ability to successfully complete these areas of the role is crucial. There is significant scope of opportunity to learn more about TV development and build upon existing editorial skills as you progress in this role, and for the right candidate we absolutely see this role as a stepping stone into a career working in scripted development

The role will be based in our London office in Paddington, and you may be expected to travel to the production office in Manchester on occasion. Evening hours may also occasionally be required to facilitate meetings with our colleagues and collaborators in other time zones.

What you'll do:

Pa duties:

Assisting the Director of Development and VP of Development:
• Diary management
• Expenses management
• Travel and accommodation arrangements as the need arises.
• Meeting room bookings and coordination.
• Preparing for office visits, in-person meetings and writers room days – ensuring all documentation is printed and organised, providing refreshments, taking lunch orders, welcoming visitors, acting as point of contact for attendees on the day, etc.
• Ensuring the smooth running of virtual meetings
• Ad hoc duties

Admin duties:
• Managing team databases
• Logging and tracking script submissions.
• Logging and tracking slate projects and publishing and distributing weekly updates.
• Maintaining contact lists of agents, commissioners, writers and talent
• Filing script submissions and project documents on SharePoint
• Sourcing / ordering and distributing development research materials where required.
• Ad hoc admin duties

Creative duties:

Ensuring the above duties are all in order, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience by assisting the team with more creative tasks including:
• Reading scripts and IP on submission and assisting the team with writing feedback
• Researching and tracking potential IP of interest – books, plays, articles, podcasts etc.
• Keeping up to date with projects and trends in the wider TV industry
• Tracking on and offscreen talent of interest and cultivating relationships with agents

What you have:
• Ideally, 1+ years of experience working in the TV industry as a PA and/or an admin role, including diary management experience.
• Experience in some capacity of script reading.
• IT proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Zoom and file-sharing services.
• A passion and working knowledge of the TV industry, of key players within the industry (major agencies, commissioners, prod cos and talent) and an interest in following wider industry news and trends.
• Confident in communicating and dealing with various levels of seniority inside and outside of the business, including high profile talent.
• Strong attention to detail and highly organised.
• Ability to use own initiative to complete tasks and also take direction for senior leadership.
• A strong team player with a positive attitude.
• Able to keep absolute confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Desired skills:
• Proficiency with Airtable, SharePoint, Final Draft and/or IMDb
• Experience working in a development team.
• Experience of handling confident information with tact and sensitivity and/or experience working with high-profile talent
• Diary management with different time zones,
