Sony Imageworks Vancouver is seeking a VFX Editor!

As an Associate VFX Editor, you are responsible for confirming, tracking and distributing information from the client VFX editor to the Imageworks team on CG features. This information includes sequence media, avid refs, references and communication, which are used to create a blueprint for individual shots that affect the outcome of shot aesthetic, technical direction and budget. Maintaining up to date cuts, from pre-vis to final, while making them available for use by the show's crew for review and reference is a high priority for this position. As an Associate VFX Editor, you must also be able to identify and report updates or changes to shots and cut revisions.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Conform edits sent from the client
• Report updates to cuts that may include: frame ranges, omits, shot additions, retimes and post moves
• Create single shot Avid refs with accurate frame ranges, current pre-vis and/or post-vis provided by the client
• Must be able to flag dialogue changes
• Perform quality control checks
• Upload to Edportal and publish the most current cuts of all sequences, trailers and marketing spots
• Import, export and transcode media using multiple formats, frame rates, resolutions and codecs to internal and external locations for client delivery, references and presentations
• Know how to read and create a vfx count sheet
• Manage media and project files in Avid using the Avid NEXIS
• Complete show wrap of final sequences for marketing and archives in Avid
• Create in-house reels including monthlies and marketing presentation pieces

Experience
• Previous experience in an editorial post house or VFX cutting room
• Must know Avid Media Composer, Avid NEXIS Media Network, Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects)
• Shotgun, Windows Office, Adobe Reader/PDFs, Google Drive
• Mac OS X, Linux, Windows
• Knowledge of multiple file formats such as: mxf, aaf, avi, wav, aiff, dpx, exr, and QuickTime outputs and codecs
• Knowledge of Windows Office, Adobe Reader/PDFs and Google Drive
• Proven organizational skills, interpersonal skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Firm understanding of VFX editorial procedures
• Understanding of syncing and editing audio files

Education
• Formal education in a related field is preferred, but not required. You must demonstrate clear interpersonal skills and basic knowledge of the VFX Editorial workflow.

The anticipated base salary for this role is $26.44 to $36.32/hr. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
