The Environment Set Dressing department creates impressive environments with manual and procedural dressings. Using cutting-edge technology, the artists are responsible for distributing and growing assets and vegetation to fill the environment and improve the narrative context of the sequence. All content is gathered and optimized for each shot before delivering to Lighting and Compositing departments.
As a Environment Set Dressing Artist, you will be involved in several processes such as asset publication, location assembling process, set dressing per sequence, shot construction, optimization, rendering, publication and support.
Responsibilities
• Builds outstanding locations with optimal usage of assets.
• Improves shot framing per camera, showing good image composition skills.
• Uses assets efficiently to build complex but feasible locations.
• Ensures the work meets the technical requirements and QCs (Quality Control) before passing it to the rest of the departments down the pipeline.
• Follows the workflow and keep the scenes and work organized to simplify if a file/scene needs to be shared to other department artists.
• Acquires good technical knowledge of the studio pipeline.
• Successful delivery of the assigned tasks on schedule and meeting the required standard.
• Ensures the work is reviewed and approved before passing it to the rest of the departments down the pipeline.
• Collaborates with other team members, when necessary.
• Follows the Supervisor's and Lead´s guidance.
Responsibilities
• 3-5 years in VFX or animation industries.
• At least 1 year in the animation industry is desirable.
• Good image composition skills required.
• Creation of distributions using scattering tools in Houdini or similar software.
• Good knowledge of the software used for the show (usually Maya, Houdini).
• Having basic knowledge of Z Brush is desirable.
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of other pipeline, departments and functions in the industry.
• Debug and troubleshoot their own scenes issues.
• High English level desirable.
• Spanish knowledge desirable.
