Employee Relations Specialist-Temporary (PT)

The eligible candidate provides advice and counsel to people managers and employees in resolution of employee-related conflicts and discipline. Investigates employee relations issues, i.e. employee complaints, alleged misbehavior and/or violation of work rules and policies. Makes recommendations to resolve issues in accordance with SS&E policies, practices, and procedures. Consults with key stakeholders as needed, i.e. AVP People Business Partnership, Legal, Chief People Impact & Belonging Officer, etc. Consistently documents investigations and results. Ensures compliance with Performance Improvement Plans (PIP), Corrective Action Forms (CAFs), Conflict Resolution, Suspension and Termination Guidelines.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with SS&E and its People & Culture/People Business Partnership policies, practices and procedures. This position must also exhibit a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and personalized internal customer service that embodies the company's One SS&E culture and core Values of Integrity, Success, Caring.

What You'll Do: 
• Investigate and evaluate cases of employee dissatisfaction or discipline.
• Interview employees and determine issues.
• Provide guidance and counsel to management on employee related problems which could result in oral or written discipline
• Report findings to management of the affected department and consult with People Business Partnership (PBP) Team, Legal Team and Chief People Impact & Belonging Officer on appropriate course of action.
• Process investigation cases, including scheduling, conducting, and documenting due process meetings, interview witnesses, collect evidence, including statements, video surveillance, pictures, and any other documents relevant to the case.
• Contact supervisors, review relevant policies and objectively document facts and opinions relevant to all cases.
• Provide and collect information for unemployment claims and hearings.

Who You Are:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Minimum of two years' experience in the employee relations
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, administrative, multi-tasking, organization and prioritization skills and meet targeted deadlines
• Active listening- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), fluent English and articulate
• Ability to work efficiently, independently and cohesively, consistently producing quality results
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook necessary
• Must possess excellent conflict resolution skills
