OVERVIEW

NPR's People Partners play a vital role in promoting organizational effectiveness by aligning individual capabilities and divisional talent in support of NPR's strategic plan.
Our People Partners work closely with their assigned client area to design, develop, and implement Human Resources programs focused on attracting, retaining, developing, and motivating employees to their greatest potential.

In this important role, you will serve as the front-line provider of quality HR service to NPR's fast-paced Content Division, supporting teams including Planet Money, NPR Music/Tiny Desk and others on matters related to staffing and retention, employee relations, talent planning, performance management, organizational development, employee engagement and strategic planning. As a People Partner at NPR you'll influence organization and talent initiatives that support our short and long term goals in an environment that encourages collaboration, and professional growth and development.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as HR advisor, coach, and partner to the Content & Franchises leadership team. Develop in-depth understanding of each department by participating in executive's and other business leadership meetings.
• Strengthen the management capabilities of leadership by providing coaching and development to people managers. Educate managers on delivering effective feedback that results in increased performance and team engagement.
• Provide guidance on workforce planning, restructures, org design, and succession planning.
• Develop strong working relationships partnering with HR specialists and budget managers to provide seamless HR support and guidance to the business including: Employee Relations, Talent Management, HRIS, Compensation, and Benefits.
• Closely coordinate with the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to create a diverse pipeline of talent.
• Support compensation decisions related to adjustments, promotions, merit increases, and overall job architecture.
• Work closely with senior department leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Lead and/or contribute to organization-wide Human Resources projects and initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 4 years of Human Resources experience.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships and demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of HR and business management by building trust and credibility.
• General knowledge of relevant personnel policies and procedures best practices.
• Strong project management skills with an ability to identify and analyze business and organizational needs.
• Willingness and ability to change support levels as required; proven ability to shift between strategic, tactical, and sometimes transactional areas of focus.
• Experience working with dispersed teams and fostering connections across locations and time zones.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong business acumen and financial understanding. Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives and influence decision makers at all levels. Ability to be proactive, anticipate, and provide alternatives to the business.
• Ability to add value through change management; help pivot culture and improve overall effectiveness of the division and team.
• Resilient in building relationships with division leaders, exerting pressure when needed but choosing priorities carefully.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability and skill to approach problem-solving from an evidence-based perspective.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in human resources or a related field.

WORK LOCATION
• Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. Some aspects of this role include duties that are better performed at an NPR facility. The employee will be required to be onsite at the Washington, DC office at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.

JOB TYPE
• This is a full time, exempt position.

COMPENSATION

Salary Range: The US based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $99,000 - $118,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR's benefits options.
