KIAH CW39 Houston is searching for a hands-on, passionate, detail-oriented journalist to be our next Morning Executive / Special projects Producer that can help take our newscasts and lifestyle show to the next level. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and news judgment, the ability to showcase important stories, and know how to win ''Breaking News and Weather''. As a key newsroom manager, the EP will be responsible for leading editorial meetings, crafting the station's daily content and approving all script and content for our broadcasts. The successful candidate will work with producers, anchors, reporters, and our digital team
on story selection, showcasing, meter management and tease writing . The EP will work side by side with the News Director to set and uphold the high standards for how CW39 newscasts and lifestyle show is produced and executed.
Job Description
Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs and social) and be quick to report breaking news stories and always on the hunt for exclusive and or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local ratings and web traffic.
• Build positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management, work collaboratively on tv broadcasts, web content and special projects as assigned.
• Critiques newscasts daily to correct errors, improve coverage and provide mentoring feedback to producers, reporters & anchors.
• Works closely with the News director to lead editorial meetings and decision-making process for planning, staffing, training, and performance evaluations.
• Generate, distribute, and assigns news content for TV and digital platforms
• Proficiency in ENPS, WordPress, AP style and the ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
• Willing to work any shift, including overnights, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be on-call.
• Strong multi-tasking abilities are a must
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, TV/film, or equivalent experience
• At least 7 years' experience in television production
• Must be able to interact well with video journalist, anchors, news managers, production team and engineering staff.
• Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
• Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills
• Execute strategies that engage and grow audiences across all media flatforms
• Work with news director to constantly refine and improve newsroom operations
