PURPOSE/REASON FOR THE POSITION:
The primary responsibilities of the Writer/Producer position are to assist the WREG-TV Director of Creative Services in promoting news and other station activities. Looking for a motivated individual who can write, shoot, edit promotional content for all platforms. One to two years of experience producing effective on-air promotions, digital marketing, and special projects. Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully interact with all departments.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB:.
Develops, writes, shoots, edits and produces image and topical promotion that drives results Work closely with Creative Services Director and News director on proof of performance, and image campaigns either independently or as a team. Develops, writes, shoots, edits and produces entertainment and special events promotion spots for on-air, both generic and topical. Assists with the production and implementation of topical and/or series news promotions to be used for placement on station's air and in external advertising. Maintain promotional presence on WREG.com, social media, and other websites. Format and upload promotional spots, write captions, and update content in proper formats. Conceptualizes graphics and enlists graphic support to clearly enhance and execute promotional messages. Inserts station promotion/advertising into daily log. Maintains communication between station and Digital Operating Center to ensure accuracy in airing of station promotion. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of station promotional spot playback by demonstrating thorough understanding of station traffic and automation systems Maintains all master promo/graphic reels and backup drives Ensures all department equipment is in proper operating condition at all times. Compiles highlight reels for internal station and company communication. Assists in handling requests for local/network program information Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• Minimum one to two years commercial and/or promotions experience, or communications degree preferred.
• Must be able to provide video reel or images of work examples - include a web address with resume or cover letter.
• General understanding of marketing and design.
• Knowledge of videography and proper lighting techniques is a plus.
• Editing expertise with Adobe CC Suite including After Effects and Premiere.
• Position will involve day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple editing projects simultaneously.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Possess excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Creative ability to write copy and produce news promotions. Grammar skills.
• Able to communicate well with the general public, civic organizations, and news, production, sales, and traffic personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Good manual dexterity in order to operate small buttons and switches on the equipment. Good eyesight and hearing for the composition and evaluation of productions and programs. Good hearing to be able to evaluate audio for on-air promotion.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record as some travel is required for shoots and production meetings.
In addition, the producer must be able to lift, set-up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
