Job Description

The Netflix IP Scouting team sits at the intersection of television/film and the broader world of IP, from books, to video games, to podcasts, and more. We are responsible for identifying and acquiring IP for adaptation purposes, and working hand-in-hand with Netflix content teams and producer deals around the world to help curate material for their specific television and film slates.

The Coordinator of IP Scouting should -first and foremost- love to read books and consume other media! And not only that, but talk about it, have an authentic point of view (positive AND negative), and be able to effectively pitch the material to executives and producers.

This position will sit at the center of an international team, and primarily manage, and improve upon the IP Scouting team's administrative tools and responsibilities; its day-to-day work identifying and acquiring books and IP from around the world; and take on special research projects for the team as it continues to grow and expand into new territories and corners of the intellectual property universe.

We are specifically looking for someone who has relevant experience in the entertainment industry, preferably with specialization or in-depth knowledge of the book/IP-to-screen marketplace. The ideal candidate is not only passionate about books and intellectual property, but is excited at the opportunity and challenge of helping build a growing team, and enjoys working in a collaborative ''all hands on deck'' group setting.

Responsibilities and oversight include:
• Identifying and evaluating books and intellectual property (articles, short stories, podcasts, video games, etc.).
• Taking on special projects, and researching and compiling information, reports, and lists based on content team mandates and arenas of interest.
• Attending relevant industry conferences, book fairs, and events.
• Management of the administrative tools and databases on which the team relies
• Overseeing the pool of book/IP coverage readers

Basic Qualifications:
• A passion for TV/film/pop culture and reading, and the ability to evaluate material quickly and with an eye towards adaptation.
• Basic knowledge of the current IP-to-screen marketplace (deal-making, authors/creators of note, buzzworthy books, and IP already being developed around town).
• Minimum 2 years of assistant and/or coordinator experience in the entertainment industry (book scouting, film/TV creative executive, publishing/editorial work, media rights representation; a combination of these fields is preferred.)
• A commitment to diverse and inclusive storytelling and helping to identify marginalized voices that have traditionally not been represented on screen.
• Experience interacting and engaging with executives, producers and high-level talent internally, as well as representatives, authors, and industry contacts externally.
• Business fluency in a non-English language is preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to multitask.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
