Responsibilities:

The Senior Counsel, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy serves as legal point of contact for the Direct-to-Consumer team for compliance with US, EU, UK and other countries' data privacy laws. Supporting the Decision Sciences team, the Senior Counsel, Regulatory Compliance and Privacy, will advise on privacy and data compliance initiatives and products across the Direct-to-Consumer digital properties, including services supporting Peacock, Sky NOW, SkyShowtime, and ShowMax as well as NBCUniversal's broadcast and cable network websites and apps. This role will report to the Vice President, Regulatory Compliance and Data Security.

Responsibilities include:
• In coordination with the NBCU Corporate Privacy team, track applicable US, EU, UK and other countries' data privacy, regulations and industry standards that impact the Direct-to-Consumer group. Manage Direct-to-Consumer group's compliance with applicable privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA & VPPA. Manage, track and regularly review status of technical compliance with legal requirements across the business.
• Manage process of completing, approving and maintaining privacy impact assessments or other records of processing.
• Coordinate with the NBCU Corporate Privacy and Privacy Operations teams to counsel and support the Direct-to-Consumer businesses on privacy issues in connection with the collection and use of consumer data, including business intelligence, marketing, advanced advertising, and related business and technology initiatives.
• Provide legal oversight and guidance, as needed, related to privacy products including the Consent Management Platform and Individual Rights Request portal and associated processes, as well as other privacy tools, including marketing consents, children's data and viewing protections, and data dormancy and retention processes.
• Provide sound, practical legal advice to the Direct-to-Consumer team, including its Decision Sciences team and senior business leaders, regarding compliance with applicable data privacy laws and company policies.
• Work with the Direct-to-Consumer Decision Sciences team to review, identify and track data sharing, collection use cases and oversee uses of data for growth marketing and advanced advertising.
• Conduct comprehensive business risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop and implement risk mitigation and corrective action plans for areas of heightened risk or problematic issues; and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
• Coordinate with Corporate Litigation team supporting litigation and government investigations.
• Advise the Content Distribution legal team on privacy related contractual language and controls related to the distribution of Direct-to-Consumer properties.
• Support the Corporate Information Security team related to Direct-to-Consumer digital properties.
• Other matters as needed at the direction of the Direct-to-Consumer group's Vice President and Senior Vice President, Regulatory Compliance and Data Security.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
• 7+ years of legal experience, including in-house experience, service in a top tier law firm and/or relevant government position.
• Knowledge of the various US, EU, UK and other countries' data privacy laws, including data protection, retention, security and breach rules.
• A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of New York or Washington, DC or a member in good standing of another State Bar and registered in New York or Washington, DC as in-house counsel.
• Willingness to work nights and on weekends, if needed.
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY or Washington, DC and travel occasionally as needed.
