Job Description

This role is responsible for providing operational support to the EHS & Health Services Departments at Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk to support Occupational Health Programs. The role ensures compliance with the OSHA recordkeeping requirements, regulatory Medical Surveillance programs, Worker's Compensation, OSHA injury & illness logs, and reports/dashboards. This role serves as a liaison to the insurance carrier, Occ Health Clinics, Risk Management, and HR related to worker's comp claims. Participates in injury case review meetings and works with Health Services to ensure all work-related injuries or illnesses that meet the OSHA definitions for first-aid or recordable are accurately and in a real-time manner entered and updated in the company data management system(s).

Responsibilities
• Assists with recordkeeping requirements associated with: Medical Surveillance, Occupational Health Programs, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Injury & Illness Logs, and all other correspondence related to Workers' Compensation.
• Provides guidance and support for EHS and Health Services Teams engaging in the Worker's Compensation process consistent with applicable state and federal laws
• Partners with stakeholders to improve and manage the Workers Comp claims for evaluating, planning, and implementing accommodations (including light duty roles)
• Functions as an Occupational Health resource and program developer for EHS and Health Services Team Members.
• Ensures completeness and accuracy of Team Member I&I case reports through assessment of seriousness, expectedness, and causality, coding, review of narrative summary and providing case comments
• Develops, maintains, and reviews Occupational Health protocols
• Track and report all OSHA recordable and reportable injuries
• Supports site compliance with Occupational Health Medical Surveillance program elements including but not limited to: Bloodborne Pathogens, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Dive, and Welders.
• Manages with Occupational Health programs including: BBP, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, and others as assigned.
• Ensure programs are accurate and up to date through direct communication with employees, managers, and Health Services.
• Coordinates and schedules all required medical surveillance and maintains rosters and program records current.
• Utilize EHS Management System for recordkeeping
• Manage and verify recordkeeping requirements associated with; Medical Surveillance, Occupational Health Programs, OSHA Injury & Illness Logs, and all other correspondence related to Workers Compensation
• Creates and updates all supporting occupational health and medical surveillance documentation including: bulletins, process documents, and recordkeeping requirements, and ensuring all forms for recordkeeping are up to date and have the correct information
• Maintaining Team Member injury and illness data current to reflect accurate dates of restricted or lost time cases
• Complete general QA/QC of injury and illness data
• Proactively assists with Workers' Compensation administration through claim opening to closing.
• Coordinates recordkeeping associated with all incoming and outgoing paperwork and communication steps associated with the claims process
• Works with third party administrator and insurance company to identify concerns related to the work-related injury/illness and Workers' Compensation cases and to ensure they have all required documentation
• Coordinate with EHS Partners, Wellness team, and Management team to drive reduction of work-related injuries
o Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Work Experience
• 2+ years of experience in an Occupational Health (medical surveillance and workers comp) role
• Working knowledge of the Workers' Compensation Act and other applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.
• Technical knowledge of applicable state and local laws related to Worker's Compensation and Medical Surveillance Programs.
• Solid organizational skills, ability to manage multiple and often competing priorities
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships in a positive manner, both in person and remotely, ability to handle multiple priorities
• Independent, self-starter, requiring minimal day to day task supervision
• Professional, confident demeanor and ability to manage confidential information
• Computer proficiency in MS Office applications and database systems
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as medical records, work comp reports, safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, write and interpret English.
