Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

We are expanding and growing NBC News Now big time and fast. We need Production Assistants who are willing to work overnight/early morning hours and thrive in a fast-paced, quickly changing and deadline driven team environment. This position will work morning show hours, Monday – Friday 2am – 10am ET; and is represented by the NewsGuild-CWA.

Responsibilities/Job Duties

The bulk of the job:
• Work closely with Producers and other members of the show team to find and edit the best video, sound and graphics for assigned stories
• Keep a constant eye on show rundowns to make sure video and graphics are in place, accurate and current
• Partner with artists and producers to generate creative, thoughtful graphics for broadcast – presenting information in a way that boosts understanding
• Pitch smart and engaging stories for daily and future segments that will resonate with our audience.
• Help research and fact check stories with speed and accuracy
• Check and double check your work
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors and colleagues
• Adhere to NBC News standards and practices

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• You've worked in broadcast, digital or cable, including internships, for 2+ years or have a degree in journalism/broadcast news
• You know how to edit video on Premiere and/or Avid
• You've got an interest and passion for journalism and are up on the latest news across multiple subject areas
• You're a visual thinker who understands how to show, not tell the news.
• You are able to handle multiple projects with attention to detail under intense deadline
• You live for the moments when news is breaking and time to air is short
• You thrive working in a collaborative team environment
• You pay attention to the details of everything you work on
• You're ready to jump in on projects as they come up
• You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• You are willing to work in New York, New York, Monday – Friday from 2a – 10a ET

Additional Requirements:
• Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
