As part of the Global Content Group, License Sales team, the License Sales Associate will be responsible for handling Anime and Japanese fils and drama as well as acquired Asian titles.
NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan (NUEJ), based in Tokyo Japan has been creating variety of contents in wide-range genre, including Japanese Anime, Korean Drama and Japanese Drama/Movie for over 30 years. NUEJ has the uniqueness of being responsible for works that are ''neither produced/acquired outside of Japan,'' expanding the business scope globally.
For Japanese Anime, NUEJ has previously achieved major hits such as Golden Kamuy and Drifters, and continues to produce the contents with the rapidly growing global demand. Additionally, NUEJ has held the No.1 market share in Japan for Asian Dramas over the past decade, demonstrating our strong influence. Furthermore, we have been increasing the number of domestic productions of Japanese Drama/Movie in recent years, expanding business opportunities.
Overview
NBCU is seeking a strategic and results-driven professional to lead the monetization of non-package content rights of Anime, Japan drama and Asian drama, including TV, digital, and international, for titles produced or acquired by the Production departments and the Acquisition department. This role plays a critical part in driving revenue beyond traditional media formats, leveraging licensing opportunities, optimizing rights management, and expanding the global reach of our content. Ideal candidates will have strong industry knowledge, proven sales experience, and the ability to navigate both domestic and international markets with confidence.
Effectively utilize non-package rights (TV, digital, overseas) for works produced or acquired by the Anime production department to generate sales and profit.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Maximize the sales potential of each title by exercising rights, contributing to the achievement of the production and acquisition teams' budget and overall company revenue.
• Negotiate, plan, propose, and implement title introductions to achieve operational profit (OP)
• Manage sales progress and oversee bond collection
• Handle related tasks such as sales recording, invoicing, and general administration
Provide opportunities for content utilization in various forms to domestic and international users through licensees, enhancing customer satisfaction.
• Negotiate terms and conclude contracts (domestic and international)
• Manage various materials for content development
• Obtain permissions from producers and production committees
Maximize revenue by expanding the use of acquired content rights, accelerating collections, and improving contractual conditions, creating new revenue streams beyond the traditional package business.
• Develop new partners and clients
• Optimize contractual conditions
• Build and maintain a master database of various rights information
Establish appropriate release windows and maximize content value by creating synergy across business units and promotional phases.
• Participate in planning meetings and various internal discussions
• Analyze sales performance and provide feedback to related departments

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of the entertainment and content industry
