Job Description

The Corporate Communications team at Telemundo is seeking a seasoned media relations professional to elevate and manage our corporate media relations strategy, enhancing Telemundo's reputation and storytelling. The candidate must have experience leading corporate media relations campaigns and have a portfolio of successful earned media coverage with a focus on the New York and Los Angeles national media markets. Ideal candidates will be a creative, motivated, self-starter with incredible attention to detail, have a team-focused attitude and a solutions-oriented approach.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Communications this is a hybrid role, based in New York, requires in-office presence from Tuesday to Thursday.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans for Telemundo's corporate storytelling across various genres and formats.
• Create and distribute corporate press materials, including announcement releases, media alerts, bios, captions, talking points, story synopses, media pitches, and correspondence via platforms like MuckRack and PRNewswire.
• Build and maintain relationships with key journalists and media outlets, focusing on top-tier business, trade, and online outlets to influence Telemundo's corporate narrative and brand positioning.
• Leverage opportunities to promote Telemundo's corporate narrative, senior executives, network, reputation, and innovation efforts through press releases, events, pitches, and direct media interactions.
• Manage incoming media inquiries and requests for interviews and statements.
• Engage with media influencers in social media and non-traditional media outlets.
• Represent Telemundo at various media industry events.
• Assist in developing the overall PR strategy, defining key media opportunities, creating targeted outreach lists, and detailed timelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across Telemundo, NBCUniversal, and Comcast to maximize media promotion opportunities.
• Prepare business leaders for media interviews, press events, and speaking opportunities.
• Coordinate print interviews, on-set visits, photo shoots, and EPKs as needed.
• Monitor competitive and media landscapes to identify press and thought leadership opportunities, secure media stories, ensure executive participation in key industry events, and address inaccuracies.
• Coordinate with internal teams and agencies to capture and distribute daily press coverage, ensuring relevant content is shared across the PR department, social media team, and other key stakeholders for effective internal and external amplification.
• Partner with sports, news, and consumer/publicity PR counterparts to support and convert announcements into business/trade stories in line with Telemundo's corporate message.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within NBCUniversal and Comcast.
• Manage day-to-day relationships with agencies to drive story creation and favorable coverage.
• Monitor competitor coverage, media/social campaigns, and partnerships.
• Manage the submission process for industry awards and lists, ensuring strategic alignment with PR campaigns and executive recognition initiatives.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management for the Communications Manager, fostering professional development and ensuring alignment with overall media relations strategies and goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Strong writing skills in English.
• College degree required.
• Demonstrated ability to write press materials.
• Knowledge of the PR industry and media relations, with an interest in media and entertainment.
• Strong media follow-up skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working with or for PR agencies.
• Expertise in providing public relations counsel and conducting live media interviews.
• Understanding of handling sensitive corporate information with the media.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in public relations/marketing or corporate PR agency experience.
• Knowledge and hands-on use of digital and social media platforms.
• Proficiency in Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Salary Range: 120k - 140k

• Spanish language skills (spoken and written) are a plus.
• Proficiency with AI tools is a plus.
