Job Description

Role Title: Associate Legal Counsel/ Legal Counsel, NBCUniversal International Networks and Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)

Reporting to: Director, Legal & Business Affairs, NBCUniversal International Networks and DTC (London)

Location: Hybrid working. Based at the Central St Giles office with remote working options.

OVERVIEW

A key permanent full-time role at Associate Legal Counsel or Legal Counsel level (dependent on experience) in a friendly, collaborative team covering a varied workload.

As well as being part of the dynamic Networks & DTC business, you will be part of an international legal community with access to a wide range of in-house training and development opportunities, events and knowledge-sharing resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will support a range of our internal client teams, including Commercial, Programming, Ad Sales & Client Partnerships and International Media Distribution (IMD), and will involve:
• Negotiation and drafting of agreements for the distribution of NBCU's portfolio of entertainment and news channels, direct-to-consumer offerings and brands across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
• Negotiation and drafting of content acquisition, advertising and sponsorship agreements as required.
• Negotiation and drafting of agreements for the IMD business representing third-party foreign language channels for distribution into the US.
• Assisting on project work and product launches to support the development of our content brands.
• Keeping up to date with, and advising the business on, key legislative and regulatory developments in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, including on copyright, advertising and compliance matters.
• Supplemental support to the marketing, production and technical operations lawyers in the team as required.
• Working closely with NBCU's specialist IP, Litigation, Privacy and Employment lawyers where needed.

The responsibilities may be modified at any time and may include supervision and training of junior staff.

Qualifications

• has flexibility in their approach and good problem-solving and interpersonal skills;
• has a willingness to learn, share knowledge and continue to develop their skills.

Skills/Experience:
• Qualified to practise law in the UK (1-5 PQE).
• Commercial, IP or transactional corporate experience, either in private practice or in-house is desirable, but candidates who can demonstrate solid negotiation experience and an ability to pick up new areas of law quickly will also be considered favourably.
• Computer literate with experience in using Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
• Experience of using contract management systems and DocuSign is desirable.
