THE JOB

US Concerts is seeking an Assistant Sustainability Manager to help us take our sustainability programs to the next level. This role will provide administrative and executional support to drive effective and successful implementation of venue sustainability programs. This position will operate under the guidance of Live Nation's national Sustainability Team but will report directly to the Venue Operations Manager and be part of the venue operations team. This is a seasonal, part-time position working an average of 30 hours per week. Hours per week will vary depending on show schedule and business needs at the time.

Assistant Sustainability Manager:

Freedom Mortgage Pavilion is looking for an enthusiastic person to work on the venue's sustainability team to help reach goals. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Venue Sustainability Manager, the Venue Cleaning Manager and the Operations Manager to ensure that we are doing our part at FMP to recycle.

This person will be assisting the Venue Sustainability Manager with day to day operations on both show days and non-event days.

Below are the tasks that this position will be taking on.

Training & Engagement:
• Be onsite during pre-season venue set up to ensure zero waste operational procedures are in place.
• Deploy sustainability communication and engagement assets to help lead pre-season venue orientation trainings.
• Work closely with all venue departments to integrate sustainability into operations.
• Collaborate with the Sustainability Manager to build enthusiasm and participation around venue sustainability efforts.

Resource Recovery & Material Circularity Operations:
• Oversee and assist with the material sorting process of all recycling, composting, reuse, and donations materials to increase resource recovery and diversion from landfill.
• Analyze existing venue infrastructure, event set up, and waste flows to identify areas for improvement.
• Be present on show days and non-show days to manage teams, and to ensure compliance and quality control of materials entering the waste stream.
• Identify key opportunities and partnerships to expand the material circularity model throughout the season.
• Create a lively and positive atmosphere across front of house and back of house waste operations.

Qualifications:
• Passion for driving environmental impact through both hands-on and administrative work
• Show days require about 90% of the time spent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and carrying 50+ lbs. with about 50% of that time spent helping/overseeing the sorting of materials.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year in a leadership position in one of the following: operations/event coordination, Guest Services and communications, event, or campus sustainability/zero waste events
• Creative thinker and problem solver
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Acute sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy
• A strong sense of teamwork and ability to execute programs
• Time management and the ability to excel in an unstructured environment
