Job Summary/Description:
KALB-TV has an immediate opening for a news producer responsible for daily live newscasts. We are looking for a newsroom leader who can multi-task and make split-second decisions. The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, with strong organizational skills and excellent writing ability.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrating creativity and strong editorial judgment
- Developing and organizing newscasts
- Writing and editing news scripts for TV & digital platforms
- Editing video for TV & digital platforms
- Giving direction to reporters and photographers on deadline
- Creating graphics for new stories
- Coordinating live shots
- Communicating with anchors and production staff during live broadcasts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong communication, organization, & planning skills
- Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred
- Excellent news judgment, broadcast writing, & visual storytelling skills
- Must have a sense of urgency and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Be able to remain calm and level-headed during breaking news situations
- Previous newsroom experience preferred
- Familiarity with ENPS, Edius & web posting is a plus
- College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field preferred
