Reports to: Major League Game Planning Coach
Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
Status: One Year Contractual Agreement
Summary/Objective:
The Houston Astros is seeking a driven individual to serve as the team's Spanish language translator while also supporting the department's business and baseball goals and objectives. The primary focus of this position is to serve as the main point of contact in assisting players with the logistics of their employment as a Major League Baseball player (not to include contract interpretation). There will also be some additional duties asked of this person – primarily, in the area of Advance Scouting – to help the Major League staff in game preparation.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Fluent in Spanish, with excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Provide Spanish translation for all scheduled pre- and post-game player media interviews including Spring Training workouts and games, home and road games, and during postseason play.
• Become an embedded part of the Major League staff and attend team and individual player meetings with Spanish speaking players to provide translation services.
• Attend and serve as the Spanish translator at any Club-related events to be covered by local or national media at which Major League players are present.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including; long hours, nights, holidays and weekends; additionally able to travel both domestically and internationally when necessary.
• Support Team Operations as it relates to Spanish speaking players.
• Assist Advance Scouting staff and ML staff in game preparation duties.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and related work experience.
• Strong familiarity understanding the different variations of cultural context and nuances among the Spanish speaking countries.
• 2+ years working in minor or major league baseball.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confidential matters with sensitivity and discretion.
• Inclusive, team player with proven success collaborating in a team environment both internally and externally.
• Expert knowledge of baseball (rules and culture).
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency in basic computer software programs.
Work Environment
Position will work in an office and stadium environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and requires the ability to work long hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including all home and road games.
Travel:
This role will require a significant amount of travel. This role is expected to relocate to West Palm Beach, FL for Major League Spring Training (Feb/Mar) and travel for road games.
