Reports to: Coordinator, Tournament - Golf

Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt/Seasonal

Summary/Objective:

The Astros Golf Foundation was formed in 2018 to manage the PGA TOUR event, Texas Children's Houston Open. This role will primarily be responsible for generating new ticket revenue for the Astros Golf Foundation through selling GA and Venue Hopper tickets, group tickets, and other premium packages. Additionally, this position is responsible for taking inbound sales calls and creating up-selling opportunities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Proficient in generating sales leads via focused phone calls and emails.
• Answer inbound sales calls with the ability to up-sell potential clients (ticket packages, group tickets, and course rentals).
• Set face-to-face appointments to show available event space and give course tours with the intent to close business.
• Provide excellent customer service to prospects and current clients over the phone.
• Research categories of companies that typically engage and host clients during PGA tour events.
• Target smaller businesses in the Houston area for small hospitality, venue hopper, and GA packages.
• Assist with grassroots movement around town, selling GA and Venue Hopper tickets.
• Serve as sponsor activation personnel during tournament week to ensure comprehensive care for all of our partners.
• Represent the organization at in-house golf course events and off-site community events promoting tickets.
• Assist with post tournament needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• 1 to 2 years of professional sales experience.
• Working knowledge of golf and the PGA Tour.
• A proactive salesperson with a strong work ethic who has a solution driven approach and excels in customer service.
• Self-sufficient.
• Commitment to personal integrity.
• Ability to confidently deliver face-to-face sales presentations to prospective clients.
• Comfortable making phone calls and meeting with clients/vendors/volunteers/non-profits.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and internet software.
• Ability to maintain discretion concerning confidential information.
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to Memorial Park Golf Course office and to offsite locations.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting, and physically on the golf course. This job will be expected to work indoors and outdoors in moderate weather conditions (wind, rain, cold, heat, etc.). This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopier.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and see (both close and distant objects). The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to handle, feel and/or reach. Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50lbs. Ability to sit, walk long distances and/or stand for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Occasionally must work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required throughout the period of employment, but especially in the three weeks prior to and the week of the Texas Childrens' Houston Open.

Travel

Limited travel may be expected in this role.
