Reports to: Major League Game Planning Coach
Classification: Full-Time/Exempt
Summary/Objective
The Houston Astros are seeking an excellent addition to its Advance Scouting department, the group tasked with preparing the Astros Major League Staff and Players for the upcoming opponents. The Advance Scouting Coordinator will work closely with the Major League Game Planning Coach and the Advance Scouting team to assist with all aspects of the department. The person hired for this position is expected to bring substantive baseball and analytical skills from day one. Additionally, this position requires someone with a high level of attention to detail, great work ethic, strong communication skills – both written and verbal, superb organizational skills, and exceptional time management. This position will be based in Houston, TX.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Conduct research to improve team strategy and performance
• Synthesize research and communicate actionable insights to major league staff and players
• Collaborate with other Baseball Operations departments to ensure the most up to date information is delivered to the major league staff and players
• Analyze Astros players to assist in player development plans
• Assist with all other Advance Scouting duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Assist with other Baseball Operations tasks as bandwidth allows
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience & Skills:
• High level of attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure in time-constrained environments
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
• Video analysis or scouting experience with an MLB Club or major online presence preferred
• Professional/collegiate playing, coaching, or scouting experience preferred
• Coding experience with ability to write SQL queries and/or R scripts preferred
• Native or full professional Spanish language proficiency preferred
Work Environment
Position will work in an office and stadium environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and requires the ability to work long hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including all home and road games.
Travel:
This role will require a significant amount of travel. This role is expected to relocate to West Palm Beach, FL for Major League Spring Training (Feb/Mar) and travel for road games.
