Job Description
The VP of Pricing & Yield Analytics will be responsible for building the analytical practice for the advertising business, with the goal of providing insights that drive revenue and measurable outcomes for our advertisers. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in analyzing digital advertising pricing, inventory, and building media packages. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of synthesizing technology and data to drive outcomes.
In this role, you will work on sophisticated problems, inform leaders on critical decisions and have exposure to senior-level decision-making, crafting relationships with people across the company. We are looking for demonstrated success in strategy development, business analysis, project management and problem solving.
Resonsibilities:
What You'll Do
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team of experts that: (1) manage pricing and inventory across the Hearst Magazines portfolio, (2) use data to build ongoing analyses to track revenue performance and medium to long range areas of opportunity.
• Be responsible for monitoring key metrics to drive accountability, surfacing risks and opportunities to senior leadership. Focus on driving step-change revenue growth around go-to-market, product, and client experience. Work cross-functionally to support strategic and operational decisions and execution as needed.
• Oversee our Digital Pricing & Yield practice; charting the path for how we build plans, set our rate cards, analyze our business, monitor inventory, and provide the right frameworks for negotiations with our client and agency partners.
• Partner closely with leaders in Programmatic and Performance Media to evaluate ongoing data related to industry and marketplace trends.
• Use the combined superpower of deeply understanding of our ad products/workflow and the underlying data to drive sales performance, monetization and insights for Hearst Magazine's advertising business.
• Survey and understand the internal data availability and landscape at Hearst Magazines, identifying requirements to build better reporting and analysis capabilities with partners in Product/Design/Engineering and Business Intelligence. Work to design a department-wide understanding of revenue 'source of truth.'

• You have 12+ years digital experience with a background in sales planning, account management and yield/pricing at a media company or publishers
• You have 8+ years of managing a team, including managing experienced managers
• You have a deep understanding of the digital ecosystem. Deep understanding of publisher advertising technologies from CRM to ad delivery is required.
• Strong presence, executive communication and consensus building capabilities are essential. Demonstrated ability to thrive in an unstructured, collaborative environment is ideal.
• You have a strong analytics, framing, problem-solving and demonstrated success in analytics and strategy development.
• You have a deep understanding of social platforms and publisher solutions
• You have great analytical skills and can build analyses or models to help support a business case
• Strong data analytics skills (SQL, Tableau) and experience working with large data sets. Ability to visualize complex data sets that provide insights and clearly inform areas of action.
• Proven ability to be successful in a complex, fast-paced environment.
• Organized, detail-oriented and strategically focused.
The base salary for this role is between $230,000-$260,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
