Job Description
Hearst is seeking an energized and process-obsessed Managing Editor to oversee day-to-day operations at multiple luxury brands, supporting the editorial, art, photo, and video teams, to produce content across all platforms. The managing editor will also work with brand finance director on budget oversight, liaise with the advertising and marketing teams, and handle contract negotiations. This role will report to the VP of Content Operations and will work closely with the EICs. The ideal candidate is hyper-organized, detail-oriented, flexible, able to hit deadlines, and knows how to balance the priorities of both a digital brand and a print publication.

Resonsibilities:
• Oversee every aspect of content production, including digital, print, video, and social
• Create, maintain, update, and enforce website and print production schedules, tracking both day-to-day assignments and larger projects, to ensure all deadlines are met
• Work closely with all staff to ensure workloads are both balanced and effective in meeting larger team goals
• Strategize creatively about how the team can work smarter, not harder, to produce inspiring content
• Handle any necessary contract negotiations
• Onboard and manage freelancers, including temporary workers, writers, illustrators, and copy editors
• Process and track payment of invoices; manage larger brand expenses

Qualifications:
• 8+ years of post-grad experience managing a magazine brand's staff (including direct reports), workflow, and production process, preferably cross-platform
• Problem-solver able to work with many different personalities and management styles
• Obsessively organized project manager who can multitask competing priorities
• Roll-up-your-sleeves, get-the-job-done-right mindset, no matter the task
• Deep experience with InCopy, InDesign, Woodwing, and Slack
• Team player, an excellent communicator, and a lover of fast-paced, collaborative environments
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree

The base salary for this role is between $116,000-$140,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
