The Role

The accountant will be responsible for preparation of daily financial entries, accounting system GP and reports. Working closely with both the Senior Financial Controller, we are looking for someone with 3-5 years experience in a staff accounting role.

Responsibilities

Month-end
• Produce reliable financial statements and management reports on a monthly basis.
• Reconcile inter-company accounts with LDN, NY and India (invoicing, etc.)
• Reconcile and account for fixed assets.
• Analyze variances from budgets and provide explanations for these variances.
• Prepare the entries for accrued and prepaid and others, at each end of the month.
• Distribute month-end reports.

Production
• Ensure that all project costs are accounted for accurately.
• Calculate revenue recognition for each project at each month end.

Budget and forecast
• Participate in the preparation of the company's budgets and forecasts.
• Explain variances ensuring department heads are informed if there are any issues.

Bank
• Management of bank accounts including the initiation of payments and deposits.
• Produce monthly bank reconciliations.
• Manage the corporate credit card program.
• Participate with the CFO-Canada in the preparation and monitoring of monthly cash flow forecasts.

Taxes and statistics
• File returns and remit GST and QST.
• Make monthly instalment remittances
• Manage Statistics Canada surveys (complete surveys, assist and ensure they are completed).

Reconciliation of balance sheet items
• Reconcile balance sheet items each month and make adjusting entries if necessary.

End of the year
• Ensure that reports, schedules and all other related documents are correctly completed and submitted on time.

General
• Produce ad hoc reports and analyses on request.
• Ensure that company policies and procedures are used consistently and that best practices are maintained and followed at all times.
• Holding a CPA title (or only the stage portion remaining).
• 3 to 5 years of business experience (month-end, financial statements, management reports, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills and keen eye for detail, ability to see the big picture.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Knowledge of accounting systems (D365 an asset).
• Great Plains an asset (immigrating from Great Plains to D365)
• Bilingualism in French and English
