JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking, and creative Senior Producer to join America Reports. We are looking for an independent leader, a proven go-getter, a team player, and someone who can rise to the occasion under the stressful demands of cable news. As Senior Producer, you should have excellent editorial judgment and breaking news experience.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create the show's rundown with current news topics, compelling content, and guests
• Make important editorial decisions, guide talent, writers, associate producers, and the technical team in the control room
• React to breaking news and ensure the right content is getting on the air as news happens
• Oversee execution of the show, scripts, banners, and elements
• Mentor and develop show staff including Line Producers, Writers, Bookers, APs, and PAs
• Collaborate and communicate with anchors/reporters to ensure they are receiving the necessary research and elements needed to ensure the best show daily
• Handle all aspects of pre-production, including call-for elements, reporter scripts, elements, and pre-taped segments
• Monitor the aesthetics of the screen to ensure that visuals support the conversation
• Work closely with the news industry's top talents
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• A Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of newsroom experience and producing/line producing a television newscast
• Experience with talent management
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills as well as the ability to create an environment that fosters teamwork
• Purposeful and skilled management of a control room
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple daily deadlines
• Knowledge and passion for current events, politics, and pop culture
• Exceptional editorial skills with the ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
• Proven track record of leadership and newscast rating growth
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $95,000.00-133,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
