Shipping and Receiving Specialist (Contract)

Responsibilities:
• Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
• Prepares bills of lading; check items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
• Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpack, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
• Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtain authorized signatures for accepted items.
• Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents..
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Deliver personal packages to the secure shipping room and notify the recipient using email system.
• Maintain department database, prepare routine reports, file shipping/receiving records as needed.
• Operate dolly, pallet jack, loading and unloading supplies and/or equipment
• Communicate with FedEx, DHL or USPS to resolve customs delays, duties & taxes issues and prevent package returns
• Travel to FedEx, UPS or the Post Office to drop off packages due to importance, system is down and on behalf of employees
• Hand deliver postal envelopes to employees daily regarding shipping & facilities requests through face to face interactions or via online channels such as slack, email
• Take weekly inventory, conduct orders and restock office supply areas across the campus
• Order and replace ink cartridges across the campus
• Take weekly inventory, conduct orders and restock shipping supplies
• Closing tickets in JIRA helpdesk accurately

Skills preferred:
• Shipping experience with FedEx, UPS, DHL and USPS is highly preferred
• Google Suite
• Excellent customer service experience
• Team oriented
