What You'll Do

Epic Games' Creator Platform team is looking for a Senior Technical Designer. In this role, you will help design systems and features, while refining the tools and workflow used by both first-party and individual creators to build engaging experiences. You will be working on core gameplay systems straddling Unreal Engine, UEFN, and Fortnite to empower developers. Our ideal candidate has experience in systems and gameplay design and brings a passion for creative empowerment for both players and developers alike.

In this role, you will
• Help identify and design gameplay features that expand the Fortnite Ecosystem to new genres and audiences.
• Establish both the tools and workflow, ensuring a good end-user experience and producing quality documentation.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team to guide the feature to final implementation, providing feedback and design input throughout the process.
• Provide constant design feedback about features and take on feedback from other team members and disciplines.
• Be the primary point of contact for triage of open issues related to your feature.
• Help develop new features and processes within the design team.

What we're looking for
• 5+ years experience shipping multiple titles as a technical designer, building and supporting gameplay systems.
• Passionate about player experience, with a deep understanding of player motivations, player expectation, and player agency.
• Technical Game System Design: Data Asset Architecture; Spreadsheet Automation; Strong software architecture in Blueprints; Algorithm efficiency and robustness; Impeccable ability to translate between programmers and designers.
• Demonstrated understanding of gameplay systems, tools, and workflow.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience guiding collaboration across various disciplines.
• Experience working with multiple engines including Unreal would be ideal.

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range

$158,988 — $233,182 USD

Washington Base Pay Range

$144,535 — $211,984 USD
