What You'll Do

Psyonix (a subsidiary of Epic) is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to develop, manage, and implement complex features across our vehicle based products. You will work with development teams of Artists, Programmers, Designers, Producers, and Product Managers to develop and implement highly modular systems and tools to support our vehicle based products within the Fortnite Ecosystem.

In this role, you will
• Create clear and concise technical design documentation and support design work on multiple projects
• Propose and present solutions in which technical design is a key stakeholder
• Partner with the production, design, and programming teams to provide a clear message to stakeholders regarding technical design tasks, priorities and status
• Design, develop, and implement modular systems utilizing both visual and written scripting languages
• Iterate on designs, prototypes, and features based on feedback from peers and stakeholders; take ownership of internal tooling and workflows and coordinate technical work across multiple disciplines
• Work with Design, Development, Production and Product leadership across Epic to guide technical design direction of initiatives related to vehicles
• Proactively work with UX/UI to improve the form and function of our internal and external tooling and workflows

What we're looking for
• 5+ years of technical design experience in a professional setting required; experience with systems design is a plus
• Experience on a live service or competitive/e-sports title is highly desired
• Professional experience with a high-level programming language (e.g. C++, C#, Swift, Javascript, Python, etc.)
• Proficiency in writing technical documentation with experience writing for an audience spanning multiple disciplines
• Experience with Unreal Engine
• Familiarity and interest in Rocket League and Rocket Racing mechanics and features
• Strong verbal communication skills with experience communicating technical designs and concepts across multiple disciplines

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren't limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic's generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range

$158,988 — $233,182 USD

Washington Base Pay Range

$151,761 — $222,583 USD
