Job Description
Culturespaces announced a partnership with IMG, a global leader in events, media and fashion, to create an immersive multimedia experience in New York City called 'The Hall des Lumières' in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood.

Located in the former 'Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank', the Hall des Lumières art center will offer immersive exhibitions dedicated to the great masters of art history in a 28,000 ft² space across from New York's City Hall.

The exhibitions will be designed to complement the venue's interiors of marble, columns, bank tellers, stained glass windows and sculptures, to enhance the unique multi-sensory experience.

Purchaser

Working under the supervision of the Ticket Office, Gift Shop, and Reception Desk Manager. We are searching for a tech-savvy purchaser with a keen eye for detail to buy various goods for our company. The purchaser's duties will include conducting market research, building a network of reliable vendors and service providers, negotiating the best contracts, inspecting deliveries. You should have stellar communication skills and display a high degree of cultural sensitivity to fill this role.

You will work closely with Culturespaces' gift shop department who will provide the list and design of most of the derivative products sold at Hall des Lumières.

To be successful as a purchaser, you should be able to identify emerging consumer trends and have a good ability to read people. Outstanding purchasers are able to juggle multiple responsibilities at once and make important decisions in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities:
• Liaising and working closely with Culturspaces' gift shop department
• Conducting research on potential products, vendors, and services, and comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal.
• Meeting with vendors to negotiate the best contracts.
• knowing the customs clearance systems for the entry of European products into the US
• Liaising with delivery and warehouse teams to ensure goods are received on time.
• Monitoring inventory and writing orders to refill stock.
• anticipating stock shortages while avoiding overstocking
• Attending events, shows, and exhibitions to network with vendors and view new products.
• negotiating the return of goods at the end of the exhibition
• Inspecting purchased products upon delivery and reporting any issues timely.
• Updating all records of purchased products.
• Writing reports on purchases made and performing cost analyses.
• Attending and contributing to meetings with staff and other stakeholders.
• Making sure that the finished product corresponds to the specifications given by the gift shop department (choice of varnishes, finishes, rendering of colors/samples)

Education & Formal Training
• Associate's Business degree or General Business Certification – preferred

Experience
• 2 or more years of related retail or similar experience
