As part of the Adrenaline team, join our Product Engineering team in developing high-scale central data products that align with our strategic goals. You will manage a team of focused data engineers, guide technical execution, and set the strategic direction for engineering projects. You will collaborate with teams, including leadership, architects, analysts, product management, project management, and data scientists, to understand and address complex data requirements. Reporting to the Director of Data Architecture, you will help shape our engineering landscape.

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the technical strategy for data engineering projects, aligning with broader organisational goals.
• Collaborate with leadership to implement the long-term vision for product engineering and architecture strategy.
• Oversee the end-to-end development of central data engineering projects, from conception to maintenance.
• Deliver high-quality, scalable, and efficient data solutions that meet our requirements.
• Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets to maximize team productivity and project success in partnership with our Development Directors team.
• Provide expert technical guidance on data pipelines, workflows, query designs, standards and code to support large-scale data processing.
• Partner with Data Governance and Quality Engineering teams to implement data quality checks, Unit Testing and maintain high data standards.
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines for the data engineering team.
• Conduct and oversee code reviews, focusing on scalability, performance, and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Promote the use of version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and other tools to maintain a high-quality, maintainable codebase.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead projects to enhance team efficiency and productivity.
• Improve the adoption and configuration of job scheduling tools like Airflow and GitLab to improve data workflows.
• Lead efforts to automate manual processes and improve data delivery mechanisms.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and engineering specifications.
• Promote knowledge sharing within the team, engineering groups and across the organization through regular tech talks, workshops, and documentation efforts.
• Stay up to date with latest technologies and trends in data engineering, evaluating their potential application.

Qualifications
• 10+ years experience in data engineering, with experience leading complex data-specific projects.
• Experience managing technical teams.
• Expertise in data pipeline development, ETL processes, data quality and cloud data technologies ( Snowflake, Google Cloud)
• Proficiency in Python and DBT Core
• Experience with data modeling, database design, and query optimization techniques.
• Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Understanding of Machine Learning and AI
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

BC COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES
• British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):

º $133,400 - $193,200 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
