The Role
A Software Engineer is a part of the game creation process, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms. In this particular role, your day to day will involve interfacing with Audio Artists and Game Designers to create class-leading audio experiences. This includes implementing true-to-live commentary speech play-by-play logic, to creating the atmosphere of a cup finals match. Your responsibility will also include working with partner teams to implement sound effects and music that support various modes within our title. You will report to the Operations Development Director and Technical Lead to estimate, build projects and provide excellent results.
What this Software Engineer will do at EA:
• Bring the vision of our Audio Artists and Game designers to life through end-to-end feature development
• Work with a proprietary engine to develop shareable code and interface correctly with external areas
• Design, maintain, implement, test and debug code for Audio features on an AAA title
• Maintain and implement tools and pipelines.
• Architect and document technical designs for the Audio team
The Software Engineer also needs:
• Strong expertise with C++ and experience in object-oriented design and implementation
• Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimisation
• Excellent debugging experience using tools to help debug
• Knowledge of good software engineering practices
• Work with internal and externally developed code in a collaborative fashion
• Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent training and professional experience
