Job Description
About the Team
The Ventures Innovation team at Electronic Arts is dedicated to exploring new opportunities beyond the bounds of traditional gaming; specifically new opportunities across the ever-evolving industry and inspiring forms of sports entertainment.
As part of the Experiences organization, we are a team of innovators, strategists, creatives, engineers, and statisticians. Together, we incubate inspiring products, features, and capabilities that sit outside the core gaming experiences of EA, breaking new ground in interactive experiences and sports entertainment. You will work in a hybrid work model based in Redwood Shores and report to the VP of Experience Design & Innovation.
The Role
We are looking for a visionary Director of Strategy to steer our exploration of inspiring forms of sports entertainment. You will understand digital consumer behavior, sports usage trends, and product strategy. You will uncover nascent and inspiring opportunities in the evolving world of sports entertainment, including new ways fans engage with sports on social networks and adjacent forms of engagement.
You will partner with the Innovation team, Ventures product teams and EA's Corporate Strategy, Consumer Insights, and Analytics to define strategic opportunities.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Innovation team as they incubate new concepts in response to the strategy. Be involved from ideation, development, and evaluation to user testing to find product-market fit.
• Define a bold, insight-driven vision for the future of digital sports entertainment, and an ongoing stream of strategic opportunities as we develop and refine features, capabilities and products in this space.
• Work with EA's Corporate Strategy, Consumer Insights, Analytics, and Ventures teams to align initiatives and leverage shared expertise.
• Analyze trends in digital sports consumption, including fan engagement on social networks and other emerging platforms.
• Collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, design, and marketing, to align strategies and bring innovative concepts to life.
• Shape a roadmap of initiatives that positions EA as a leader in the future of digital sports entertainment.
• Use knowledge of emerging technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR) to inform potential opportunities.
Experience
• 10+ years of experience in sports, entertainment, social media platforms, or creative agencies, with a focus on defining strategic opportunities for new consumer experiences.
• Ability to extract and interpret important insights from data sets and research, including social listening and engagement metrics, to identify and unlock strategic opportunities.
• Experience contributing to the creation of innovative digital sports experiences, demonstrating an understanding of how fans interact with digital content.
• Expertise in understanding consumer motivations and behaviors to inform forward-looking strategies and identify opportunities.
• Experience influencing cross-functional teams, important partners and senior leadership.
Skills
• Experience defining, articulating, and executing a forward-looking strategy grounded in consumer insights.
• Exceptional ability to collaborate and influence, driving alignment toward common goals.
• Experience shaping and delivering digital products or experiences.
• Skills in interpreting consumer data, market trends, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and their potential applications in sports entertainment.
