Data Scientist (Decision Science)

We are hiring a Data Scientist, specializing in Decision Science for our WWCE Insights team, reporting to the Director of Data Science & Taxonomy for WWCE in Austin, TX (We support hybrid work and you will be in the office at least one day per week).
Responsibilities:
• Data analysis - Identify, source, examine, clean, visualize and prep datasets for statistical analysis, perform EDA and apply statistical techniques to examine and interpret large datasets, identify trends, patterns and correlations.
• Modeling – Create or apply predictive and prescriptive models to datasets and perform model fit tests
• Communication - Present complex analytical insights to Executives in business-friendly language through visual data products, reports and presentations and translate findings into their domain specific context
• Stakeholder Cultivation – build a business network with teams outside the WWCE department to understand requirements, define problem statements and create analytical approaches to support strategic decisions
• Experimentation – design interventions based on prescriptive models and provide a plan for implementing the experiments and measure the results and finally provide recommendations for next steps
• Understanding of current challenges surrounding AI: demonstrate understanding of concepts such as AI ethics, fairness, data leakage, bias and model drift
Required Qualifications:
Master's in Statistics, Operations Research or related field (we will consider a Bachelor's degree in Statistics with significant relevant experience)
Technical skills:
– Expert in at least one Statistical Programming Language such as R or Python
– Experience with relational and distributed databases
– Experience with visualization tools such as RShiny, Streamlit, Tableau
Soft skills:
– Customer Advocate – You care what kind of experience our players are having when their games or services don't work and
you want to play your part in improving it
– Programmer – You're an expert at writing functions and identifying the right language for the right situation
– People Analyst – You understand that your work contributes to improving people's lives not predict when a machine is going to break down
– Learner – You are a regular on Stack Overflow, know how to take apart a Vignette and are always looking for a new project that allows you to put that cutting edge technique to good use you read about last month
– Documentation Expert – You know just the right level of documentation to help yourself and the person who takes over
after you understand what you did, when and why
– Teacher & Student – You are patient and can field questions from team members around better coding practices or statistics related problems but you also never stop learning and understand the industry is constantly moving and you need to keep up
– Experiment Designer – You can create up an A/B test in your sleep, but you don't let a less than ideal A/B test set up stop you from finding some answers
– Top notch communicator – You can turn data into pictures that people understand, you can boil down 3 months of work into 3 important takeaways and you do it all while speaking with ease to high-level executives using something like PowerPoint as your sidekick
Other qualifications:
– 1-3 years of experience with at least one Statistical Programming Language such as R or Python
– Master's in Statistics, Operations Research or related field (we will consider a Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience)
– 1-3 years of experience with relational and distributed databases
– 1-3 years of experience with AWS SageMaker and Code
Versioning tools such as GitLab
– 1+ years of experience with visualization tools such as RShiny,
Streamlit, Tableau
– Experience with AWS SageMaker
