I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
Dotdash Meredith is seeking an Associate Editor to help us take Martha Stewart Digital to the next level. We are looking for a digitally savvy content creator with a passion for all things home, decor, gardening, entertaining, cleaning and organizing, DIY and food who is eager to drive the ongoing evolution and growth of the site. The Associate Editor will ideate and write content, and work with the growth team to refresh existing content and improve user experience–all to grow traffic, boost audience engagement, and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and deadline-driven; they are able to juggle the priorities and meet the deadlines that are crucial to the success of our business. They should also be highly organized, collaborative, and adept at using analytics and current SEO best practices to create and update content and larger editorial initiatives that will help ensure we meet our goals.

About Your Contributions
• Pitch, research, and write content optimized for performance on multiple traffic channels (search, social, newsletters)
• Perform relevant SEO research, creating assignments for optimized content creation, and top-editing stories that you assign to freelance and contract writers
• Monitor site and social metrics to curate, assign, and edit on-brand stories that drive traffic on multiple channels
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and market launches, and identify relevant story opportunities. Attend press events as needed
• Assist with essential functions such as updating channel programming, producing/building content as needed, scheduling content, QA and editing content, and optimizing existing content

II. Essential Job Functions

20% Work with with senior editors on SEO clean-up projects, sold campaigns, tent poles, and other edit initiatives

10% Work with Editorial Directors to manage freelance assignments and edit 5-10 stories per month.

10% Collaborate with our social, newsletter, SEO, and related departments

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years experience developing and curating digital content for web, email, and

social environments against business goals.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Enthusiastic about the Martha Stewart brand, passionate about all things Martha-food, entertaining, decorating, gardening, cleaning and organizing, DIY-and eager to share your knowledge with the world.
• Consistently up to date with industry trends; able to identify topics of interest to a wide audience.
• Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid proofing skills. Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs.
• Proactive, flexible team player with a sense of humor and entrepreneurial energy, able to roll with the punches and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment.
• Operating experience with content management systems and web analytics tools and experience using data and revenue goals to inform and develop digital strategies.

Salary: New York: $62,400.00 - $70,000.00
