Job Description
Job Title
Senior Commerce Editor, InStyle

InStyle's commerce team is seeking a Senior Editor to lead the brand's evergreen beauty library. The ideal candidate is a digitally savvy editor who is passionate about all things beauty, style, and celebrity. Previous digital beauty writing and editing experience is a must, preferably around best-of lists and/or product reviews. You must be able to provide published clips of your work.

About Your Role

The Beauty & Style Group at Dotdash Meredith is seeking a Senior Commerce Editor to assign and edit beauty and fashion-related product roundups and reviews for InStyle. The ideal candidate is a digitally savvy editor who is equally passionate about beauty products and the latest fashion trends. Previous senior-level beauty editing experience is required, and you'll also be expected to participate in testing at home and occasionally in our NYC labs.

As a Senior Commerce Editor, you will be responsible for commerce content strategy and execution, including managing a small team of editors and writers, assigning and editing new content to our network of top product reviewers, updating existing content with fresh data or new product releases per brand guidelines, providing expert review of commerce content, producing and publishing new content in our CMS, and tracking and reporting the success of all editorial efforts. This job requires both analytical and editorial skills to help you provide readers with trusted recommendations tailored to their budgets, needs, and lifestyles.

About Your Contributions
• Assign, edit, and publish new beauty best-of lists on InStyle, using competitor analysis, marketplace knowledge, and internal Lab and home testing data to back your editorial approach
• Work in conjunction with testing editors and editorial directors across Dotdash Meredith's Beauty & Style Group to choose topics and products for testing at the Lab and at home
• Manage a small team of staff writers, providing regular feedback to help develop their skills
• Prioritize day-to-day needs alongside special projects and support your team's goals, while also taking into account organizational priorities and changes
• Source, vet, and onboard new freelance writers as needed; send out contracts and training materials
• Manage quarterly content budgets and submit monthly invoices
• Stay current on trends and new products, maintaining close contact with public relations agencies
• Track and use performance data to adjust editorial strategy and programming efforts with a good understanding of basic business KPIs such as growth conversion rates
• Use SEO tools and industry knowledge to help strategize next steps
• Collaborate with and manage expectations of the commerce, product testing, editorial, growth, and social teams
• Communicate effectively throughout the organization on your team's goals and objectives

About You
• 5-7 years of experience developing online editorial content (ideally in the beauty space) and working with content management systems, including 2-3 years of experience editing freelance writers, at minimum
• Familiarity with e-commerce and affiliate content and SEO best practices
• A product enthusiast who spends time shopping and obsessing over purchases
• Passionate about beauty, style, celebrity, and industry trends
• Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of what works on the web
• Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs, all the while keeping the InStyle voice in mind
• Self-starter who wants to work for a growing company
