Job Description
The Detroit Tigers are seeking a Complex Coordinator to handle scheduling and implementation of all pre-season, in-season, and postseason on-field activity at the Tigers' complex in Lakeland, FL for the 2024 minor league season. This position is based year-round out of the Tigers' facility in Lakeland, Florida and works closely with all members of the Detroit Tigers Player Development Department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the Vice President of Player Development and other Player Development leaders by coordinating scheduling and implementation of all on-field activity at the Lakeland complex, including but not limited to Major and minor league rehabilitation, extended spring training, and any informal preseason and postseason activity taking place at the facility.
• Coordinate any scheduling and field staff needs during Major League and Minor League spring training, instructional league, and off-season programs.
• Assist the Minor League Medical Coordinator with scheduling and field staff needs during major/minor league rehabilitation. Work on field with rehabbing Major and Minor league players as needed.
• Assist the Florida Complex League manager with any scheduling and field staff needs during extended spring training and the Florida Complex League season.
• Design and implement creative skill acquisition drills to be performed by Florida Complex League players during extended spring training and the Florida Complex League season.
• Perform on-field duties such as throwing batting practice, hitting fungoes, feeding machines as needed throughout the calendar year for players on site in Lakeland.
• Serve as liaison between the Tigers and the City of Lakeland regarding all facility needs and maintenance requests during the 2024 calendar year.
• Report and comment on daily work in the internal reporting system.
• Weekly walk through of all facilities at the Lakeland facility including the storage areas, machines and training tools, locker rooms, dorm, recreation hall cafeteria, and playing fields assessing the cleanliness and maintenance of each facility and reporting any issues to the VP of Player Development.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• 3-5 years of experience in an on-field coaching/support role with an MLB organization, college baseball program, or similar organization.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage and coordinate several schedules.
• Strong communication skills
• Baseball playing experience at the professional or collegiate level preferred.
• Fluency or working proficiency in Spanish preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Outdoor and office environment
• Weekends, nights and holidays required
• Required to relocate or commute to Lakeland, FL
• Position requires to be at the facility 5-6 days per week, depending on the time of year.
