Job Description
CW39 Houston seeks a creative Host/Producer for its weekday lifestyle show, Houston Happens. The Host/Producer assists the show host, sales team and Creative Services Department with the overall production execution of our local lifestyle programming, which includes both sponsored and creative content, on broadcast (CW39 Houston) and digital platforms (cw39.com) and the station's social media assets.
Our ideal candidate has a great personality, on-air presence, excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines, with at least five years of experience hosting and producing sponsored content. The lifestyle show Host/Producer is responsible for hosting and co-hosting the program as needed, conducting in-studio interview segments daily and participating in on-location segments as scheduled.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Booking and prioritizing guest segments, stories and show development efforts.
• Deciding which segments, guests and stories are of most interest to our audience, both broadcast and digital consumers.
• Provide daily on camera and digital contributions to daily sponsored content show.
• Assisting Host & contributors with writing show segments.
• Interviewing show guests/clients both in studio and on location.
• Greeting and assisting guests during show preparations.
• Researching show topics and developing questions for guests in coordination with host and contributors.
• Participating in events - either station sponsored or others - to promote the show.
• Maintaining a show social media account and assist with all online content
• Write and coach how to write compelling teases, copy and social posts to bring viewers to our broadcasts.
• Time broadcasts and insure they are clean and correct on the air.
• Greeting and assisting guests during show preparations.

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, communications, or related field of equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• At least five years of experience producing and hosting sponsored content.
• Fluency in English with strong spelling and grammar.
• Ability to prioritize and address multiple projects with varying production timelines.
• Must be energetic, positive and great in a team environment.
• Must be highly motivated self-starter, able to work well alone and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with both coworkers and the public.
• Proficiency with computers, tablets and mobile digital devices.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Flexibility to work and shift, with some late notice of shift and schedule changes.

Physical Demands & Work Environment: must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required. Work may be conducted in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
