The Job:
The Director, Scheduling position is primarily focused on optimizing The CW's schedule to maximize ratings while supporting original content.
This position will play an integral role in the growth of The CW Network, continually working to improve each hour of the schedule. This role will also play a significant role as The CW transitions into a major player in sports broadcasting.
The ideal candidate is relationship-focused, excel-savvy, detail oriented, and able to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
This person will report to the SVP of Program Planning, Scheduling and Acquisitions.
The Daily:
• Own ''color grid'' which is the active schedule for planning purposes
• Develop long term scenarios partnering with Presidents of The CW and SVP of Programming to optimize the program schedule
• Work with sports leagues and CW's leadership to create the live sports schedule while preparing for delays and overruns
• Liaise with scheduling teams across competitive broadcast networks to ensure we properly counter program against their tentpoles
• Propose and execute ideas to maximize ratings while supporting our priority programs and/or capitalize on the pop culture calendar
• Partner with IT to build out a scheduling and inventory management system in Airtable
• Screen potential new series acquisitions and assists with selections and timing of acquired movies
• Collaborate across all functions to ensure there are no concerns before making schedule changes
• Work on ad hoc inventory management projects
The Essentials:
• 8 years of relevant industry experience (e.g. scheduling, research)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to present to and collaborate with senior executives.
• Excel at building relationships quickly to drive deliverables incorporating cross-functional feedback.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Airtable.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrates a passion for content as an avid viewer of TV & Film with knowledge of the evolving media landscape.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and drive progress under tight timelines.
The Compensation
• $120K - $150K/yr commensurate with experience and skill levels.
