Position: Head of Production
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
*Pay Range: $125,000 - $142,500 USD annually
The Head of Production (HOP) will report to the President, Company 3, New York and will manage the Commercial Producing Team at our Studio located in New York City. This is a hybrid role. The HOP will liaise with Sales, Production Operations, Engineering and Client Services as well as all Company 3/Method Inc. global studio locations to ensure a seamless client experience.
The HOP will need to be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage deadlines and expectations, and negotiate with various stakeholders. The HOP will anticipate problems and provide proactive solutions as well as develop processes that lead to better departmental efficiencies. The HOP will develop their team and will promote a positive working environment.
MAIN DUTIES:
Management: The HOP oversees and manages the commercial color producer team. They manage time and attendance, maintain job descriptions and provide performance feedback/ reviews on an ongoing basis, and help to identify and develop talent, including active participation in recruiting process for open or new positions in team.
• Oversee artists, producers, associate producers, and work directly with the Director of Production Operations as it relates to the dissemination of information regarding equipment upgrades, workflow, protocols, and new technology.
• Ensure commercial team is properly informed and trained on all technology and workflows; grow/develop new talent within the commercial department (ie. commercial color assists, coordinators, emerging artists, etc.).
• Communicate regularly to artists, assistants, producers of department changes in protocols, workflows, staffing, equipment and facility updates.
• Oversee and /or help manage complex projects from color to Online/VFX; work closely with supporting EPs and HOPs in the commercial division on a global level. This includes streamlining processes and communication efforts to help maximize resource utilization across the group.
• Work directly with Sales on a regular basis to establish a direct line of communication and understand the nuances of each client individually; support the needs of sales from a production standpoint wherever possible.
• Work with HR to resolve employee conflict and issues.
Artist: The HOP ensures artists' schedules are being managed properly by the production/scheduling team; be accommodating to our clients and solutions oriented. They will provide artists production support when needed and see that operational requests are being fulfilled when necessary. They will take part in the ownership of the local budget broken out by artist and understand how the budget is reflective of revenue forecasting.
Clients: The HOP will technically advise clients on workflow and/or alternate workflows that may meet their requirements, maintain client facing relations for onsite customers, including participating in workflow meetings and client consultations as needed by Producers. They will pursue and manage relationships with clients operationally and technically speaking, as well as ensure the production team is responding to clients in a timely manner with accurate up to date information.
Bidding, Budgets, and Billing: They will ensure bids are accurate to the work requested; bids will be approved by sales prior to client review, work with the producers and clients (when needed) to accommodate their budget restraints per project; this will be collaborative effort with sales included. They will also review Work Orders to ensure all billable services are being accounted for when applicable.
Execution of Job: The HOP will partner with the production dept to avoid weakness, bottlenecks, and risks in the schedule. They will foster strong internal communications to keep staff informed of ongoing jobs, delivery deadlines and resource availability, manage expectations of producers on how tasks are prioritized within the team, and monitor the commercial color team to ensure staffing is being utilized in the most efficient way.
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have previous working experience overseeing Producers in a Commercial Post environment. They must have previous experience managing team/resources on projects, extensive experience and knowledge of the Commercial and Advertising industries, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. They must be able to anticipate problems and provide proactive solutions as well as develop processes that lead to better departmental efficiencies, and they will have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage deadlines and expectations, and negotiate with various stakeholders.
