Senior Producer

Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Senior Producer is responsible for overseeing the production of CNN International's evening weekday shows. This is a senior editorial role which requires proven leadership skills. From time to time the Senior Producer will be required to produce special new shows and high profile programmes, including overseeing shows anchored in the field both for planned news events and in breaking news.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• The Senior Producer would be expected to be a key editorial voice in the London newsroom. They would be involved in key discussions over programme output and coverage.
• They would oversee production teams to decide which stories will be covered and how. Monitors the wires, liaises with the assignment desk and supervisors in Atlanta to ensure editorial excellence and that all content is compliant with CNN's editorial standards and the show's mission statement.
• During special programmes or breaking news coverage, the Senior Producer will lead and co-ordinate production teams in London and in the field. Special coverage may include overnight or weekend events, such as election results shows.
• Responsible for the management of team members. The Senior Producer would be expected to help lead and mentor the writers and producers to further their development. This may include formal annual appraisals for writers and other team members. It also includes rota management of production teams in London and Atlanta each day. May be involved in the recruitment of team members.

Qualifications & Experience…
• Demonstrable experience of producing in a major market
• Proven gallery skills
• Thorough knowledge of international news, business news, and current affairs
• Knowledge of modern TV news production techniques
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Sound editorial judgement

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
