CNN is seeking a dynamic senior editor to elevate reporting and writing for our powerful Washington News reporting teams. The ideal candidate will have a passion for political coverage, an eye for sharp framing, and desire to work with reporters to identify and execute on promising enterprise opportunities . The person must excel at editing breaking news on tight deadlines but also understand how to strengthen high-impact reporting with context, authority and nuance . The position will require you to stretch beyond just editing to how to make the most of images, graphics and video to give our audience the most powerful presentation befitting the story.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• Oversee stories and coverage across one or two topics simultaneously, making decisions on assignments for editors and reporters, focus and breadth of coverage
• Lead correspondents and talent on story chase, framing and direction
• Assist in story conception and continuity coverage
• Vet quality of storytelling, sourcing and depth of reporting both in digital and scripting for linear
• Inform network of developments via internal alerts system
• Responsible for ensuring video elements are being procured and considered in coverage
• Responsible for ensuring smooth hand off to continuing coverage team (Evening, AM, Weekend, etc.)
• Able to fill in for Director level team leader as needed

Qualifications & Experience…
• 8+ years of progressively complex related experience
• 3+ years management experience
• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment that is 24/7, 365 days per year
• Experience editing fast-moving breaking news
• A clear understanding of style and grammar
• Interest in politics and policy stories
• Experience helping writers frame stories for the Washington News audience
• At least 4 years of editorial experience

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $69,090.00 - $128,310.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
